Attorney Profile

Dave was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Missouri in 2000 and from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2003. He is a member of the Order of the Coif, which is awarded to the top ten percent of the law school class. He was also a member of the Missouri Law Review.

Dave’s practice includes all aspects of personal injury, catastrophic injuries and wrongful death claims, including products liability, car accidents, trucking accidents, construction and workplace accidents, nursing home abuse, defective pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices and workers’ compensation. Due to his familiarity with the intricacies of pharmaceutical drug and medical device cases, Dave has been referred these cases by attorneys around the country.

In July 2008, Dave obtained a $6,000,000 settlement in Knott v. Shepherd, Inc. on a behalf of a woman seriously injured in a truck accident, which is the largest reported settlement in the history of Barry County and was the sixth highest settlement or verdict in Missouri that year. In 2011 Dave resolved a truck collision case for $1,087,000 on behalf of a family that suffered various injuries when they were rear ended by a tractor trailer. In 2012 Dave recovered $3,490,000 against a confidential utility company in a rural county for three power line workers that were electrically shocked by 69,000 volts when a defectively built wire reel stand malfunctioned.

In addition to favorable results on trucking cases, Dave was instrumental in obtaining over $7,000,000 in settlements for clients injured by a defective pharmaceutical product that caused serious and permanent kidney damage. Dave has also obtained favorable results in numerous other cases, ranging from car accidents to construction site accidents.

In 2012, Dave was inducted into The National Trial Lawyers: Top 40 Under 40. This is an invitation-only, professional organization comprised of America’s top young trial attorneys. No more than 40 attorneys per state are asked to join this organization. Furthermore, members in this organization must meet stringent qualifications, demonstrate superior leadership skills, and exert passion and personal conviction as a young trial attorney.

In the same year, Dave was also named a Top 100 Trial Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers Association. He was specially invited to join this organization due to his superior qualifications, leadership, reputation, influence, stature, and profile in the trial lawyer community. This honor recognizes Dave’s accomplishments in obtaining millions of dollars on behalf of his clients injured by the negligence of others.

Dave was also certified as a life member of both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum in 2012. The Million Dollar Advocates Forum is recognized as one of the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the United States. Membership is limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts, awards and settlements. The organization was founded in 1993 and there are approximately 4,000 members located throughout the country. Fewer than one percent of U.S. lawyers are members.

Dave also was also named a “Rising Star” in the area of plaintiff’s personal injury by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. This honor is awarded to no more than 2.5% of eligible attorneys in Missouri. It is based on an independent evaluation of 12 areas of peer recognition and professional achievement, including verdicts and settlements, experience, and outstanding achievements.

Dave lives in St. Louis with his wife, son, and daughter.
